It is a M1991A1 and I've been trying to find a site I can look up the serial number. Actually the chart listing looks like this: 1924 700001 - 710000 Colt. According to an old (1974) book I have that serial number corresponds to the year 1924 and was assigned to the manufacturer Colt. Perhaps the 'B' suffix does mean Birmingham? As regards a serial number lookup, Remington Society of America does have some info, but it begins with 1921 and is current only up to 2012. I also inquired from Remington as to the 'born on' date and they replied it was built in 2014. From all i can find online the serial numbers for the 1911a1 start at 916xxx.
